If a student or parent asks the team something that might be useful to others, we try to add it here.
We know some people would rather not bother the team with questions. Our team are always happy to help and would much rather you asked — but if you'd sooner not, hopefully the answers are below.
What are the term dates?
They're on the term dates page, along with information about holiday workshops.
Can I try before I buy?
Yes, absolutely. We don't offer free taster classes, but you can pay for individual classes.
Classes are paid by the term in advance. To make sure a class is right for you or your child, you can pay for the first class on its own — if it suits, you pay for the rest of the term when you come back. Zumba is the exception: it's pay as you go, so there's nothing to commit to either way.
Does my child need a uniform?
Of a sort.
They'll need the appropriate apparel for the class — tap shoes for tap, the ballet outfit for ballet. That's partly so they can learn properly with the right equipment, and partly so the class feels like a team rather than a room of individuals.
We also ask that you invest in a JC Dance branded onesie with your child's name on it. It reinforces that they're part of a group, and it makes quick changes far easier — both between classes and at the annual show.
Whereabouts is JC Dance Academy?
River Road, Warrington — just off Wilderspool Causeway, behind Kwik Fit. We're the only building attached to the park with its own car park, and parking is free for anyone visiting.
How much do classes cost?
It depends on the class, rather than a single figure that applies to everyone. Classes are paid by the term in advance, with the option to pay for a single first class before committing — except Zumba, which is pay as you go, so you only pay for what you attend.

What does my child wear to a trial class?
Comfortable clothes they can move in — that's it. Nothing specific needs to be bought for a trial; bare feet or soft shoes are fine for most classes. We'll tell you what's needed going forward once they've settled in.
What age should my child start each style?
Ballerina Bear and Hip Hop Hippo from six months old. Pre-Primary ballet and tap, and ISTD modern, from age four. Street and breakdance from age four. Musical theatre from age seven.
What does an ISTD exam involve?
ISTD exams are Ofqual-accredited qualifications, usually held in July here at the academy. They're entirely optional, only offered from age five once a student is ready, and nobody has to take them at all. JC Dance Academy has a 100% pass rate. More about ISTD exams.
How does booking a trial work?
Fill in the registration form telling us who's dancing and which class interests you. We'll get back to you to discuss suitability and availability — there's nothing to pay and no commitment at that stage.
