What to expect at your child's first dance class
Less than you might think, in a good way. For the very youngest classes — Ballerina Bear & Me and Hip Hop Hippo & Me — a parent or carer stays in the room throughout. From age two, children go in on their own, in small groups split by age so the pace suits them.
Some hesitation at first is completely normal, and our teachers are used to it: it's a gentle process built around stories and games, and nobody is pushed to join in before they're ready. Most children who are unsure in week one are joining in happily within a few sessions.
Nothing needs to be bought in advance — comfortable clothes are fine, and bare feet or soft shoes work for a first visit to most classes. If a uniform or specific shoes end up being needed, we'll tell you once your child has settled in.
