A brief history of our competition crews
21 April 2026
Alongside the graded ISTD syllabus, JC Dance Academy has always run competitive street and breakdance crews — split by age and experience, from Mini Groovers through Little Fanatics and The Mighty Crew, up to Wired for students who have grown through all three.
Over the years our teams have placed at national events including Calling U Out, Iconic and the UK Street Dance Challenge, and were invited to perform at Winter Wonderland at Event City in Manchester — a fantastic opportunity that came directly from a competition placing. The full results archive is here.
It isn't only the children's crews, either: Wingin' It, our parents' crew, has placed second and third in the parents' category at several national events — not bad for a group whose founding principle is winging it.
Nobody has to compete to take a street or breakdance class. A good number of students come purely because it's the best hour of their week, and that's just as welcome as chasing a trophy.
