Choosing a first dance class for a two-year-old in Warrington

13 July 2026

At two, most children have two options with us: Ballerina Bear, a first taste of ballet built around a character small children take to immediately, and Hip Hop Hippo, its livelier sibling — same syllabus, more bouncing. Both come from Dancing Dots, and both are real technique underneath the stories and games: musicality, balance, coordination and posture, taught in the only way a two-year-old will actually accept it.

The honest way to choose is by temperament rather than by reading about it. A child who would rather move than stand still tends to enjoy Hip Hop Hippo's energy; a child who likes stories and gentler pacing often takes to Ballerina Bear. Plenty of families try both across different terms — there's no wrong door.

From this age, children go into class on their own, in small groups split by age. Nothing needs to be bought to try a class — comfortable clothes and bare feet or soft shoes are fine — and you can pay for a single first class before committing to a term. More on classes for toddlers.
